How it was won
The first quarter was the Lakers' best of the night by a distance. They led 38-15 after 12 minutes, and the lead peaked at 25.
The second quarter was the mirror image. Golden State scored 38 and held the Lakers to 15, and the teams went to the break level at 53-53.
The Warriors took over in the third, winning it 32-27 to lead 85-80. The fourth was decisive: Golden State 27, Lakers 15. The Warriors' largest lead was 17, reached at the end.
Stephen Curry led all Warriors with 31 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists, and made 8 of 14 threes. Brandin Podziemski added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists on 4-of-9 shooting from deep. De'Anthony Melton came in with 16 points and went 4 of 6 from three.
Golden State shot 43 percent from the field (38-89) and 22 of 46 from three. The ball moved: 31 assists against the Lakers' 18.
Luka Doncic did his part with 37 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, hitting 6 of 16 threes. Austin Reaves scored 21 with 4 rebounds and 5 assists but went 1 of 6 from deep. Jake LaRavia was the only other Laker in double figures with 10.
Outside Doncic, the Lakers made 5 of 23 threes. As a team they shot 40 percent (33-82) and 11 of 39 from three.
The Lakers did win some of the inside battles. They outscored Golden State 36-28 in the paint, edged the glass 45-44, and made 18 of 24 free throws to the Warriors' 14 of 17. None of it offset 22 turnovers against Golden State's 17.
Against the number
The Lakers closed as 2.5-point favourites and lost by 17, so the Warriors covered comfortably. The moneyline had the Lakers at -148 and Golden State at +124; the underdog price paid.
The total closed at 234.5. The teams combined for 207, an under by 27.5 points. The 53-point first quarter looked like an over, but the next three quarters produced 154 points combined, and the Lakers' 57 points after the opening period sank it.
What's next
The Lakers responded well. Since leaving San Francisco they have won three straight: 131-125 over the Toronto Raptors, 138-117 over the Miami Heat and 116-103 at the Sacramento Kings. That run has them at 7-2.
Next up is the Portland Trail Blazers at home on Friday, November 6, on Prime Video, Spectrum Sports Net and Spectrum Sports Net +. Portland is one of only two teams to beat the Lakers this season, winning 136-129 in Los Angeles.
The Lakers and Warriors have now split two meetings. The Lakers won the first 127-105 at home before this loss.
